IPA 2018 Award Seal

While I was away (that’s for another post) I was fortunate enough to find out I received Honorable Mention in the International Photo Awards with my photo “Into Dreamtime” (below). This photo continues to be popular and gain some notice. I am grateful to my willing subject for working with me, for without my creative partners I would have nothing to submit.

I recently watched a YouTube video where the creator listed sunsets as a cliche of photography (and yet he didn’t include old buildings, railroad tracks, the homeless…). Maybe he has a point, and yet I love sunsets. Have you ever seen two that are exactly the same, especially when clouds are involved? Each one unique in color and form, each one a moment that reminds us that there are beautiful things in this world. And as it’s just a collection of water vapor and light rays, are we not the beautiful ones for deciding they are such?

It’s been a while since I’ve posted because I’ve largely been trying to catch up from all the shooting I did in June and July. I hate being so behind in my editing (I usually try to have a week turnaround), but I’ve done a LOT of underwater shoots and it takes a while to cull all the pictures I take to find the very best.

Meanwhile here’s a quick shot from this evening at the local 5 & Diner.

A caught moment at a rehearsal of my Cosmonaut Comedy cast mate Brittany. These are my favorite types of shots: a caught frame, Lightroom touched up, but largely real and minimalist. Just the camera, me, her, and slight touch-up.

Been a while, I know, but June may have been my busiest shooting month to date and I have the latest comedy show for the Cosmonauts Sketch Comedy Troupe as well, so I’ve slipped as far as posting.

BUT…I have some nice pieces to show for it.
