Last night I did my first photographer / model meetup in a couple years (and first one solo). I had some deadlines at home, but I stayed about 70 minutes and got to photograph three models. I’m rather pleased with the results; with Covid I haven’t been able to do too many portraits.

I received notice yesterday that I’m a “gold winner” at the PX3 – Prix de la Photographie Paris annual contest for some of the photos from the ongoing family project (which sadly will have a gap this year, much like all our lives). This is the highest international award I’ve received to this point. I’d received an honorable mention for photos from this contest back in 2016 (though i didn’t realize it until sometime in the last year or so).

Thank you to all the families that share of their time and each other.

My masked guests came swarming in while I was outside, and they must have been hungry because it was a fine they were riding between running away and going for food. So I took pity on them and laid out a row for them to snack on. Hey, aside from my friend Becky they’re the only ones I can get to work with me at the moment : P

So the website host I use changed their editing layout and I’m SUPER not happy about having to learn a whole new system of editing, which is completely unintuitive. So this post is a test to see if I can still write posts easily enough, and a chance to share a picture of one of my beloved beasties who was mid-clean, but looks like she’s displeased with something. It seems the nicest way to express how I feel about these changes. “Thanks 2020.”

Had some late night visitors last night. Nice of them to clean up the yard for me after I “dropped” a bunch of cat food. Now if only they would refill the water dishes after they wash their hands…

Another digital presentation, this time back in Athens. This is one of my favorite photos because it was of a long-time friend with a miracle pregnancy two years ago. My only regret is that I haven’t been able to photograph the child out of the womb yet.

This year has been a year of contests for me, entering just about anything I can find if I have a photo that might work.

I’d entered the Monovisions Photography Awards back in May and initially thought I hadn’t placed, but I was reviewing my lists and double-checked. Turns out my underwater work has another honorable mention : )

My most successful image continues to pull in some notice. “Into Dreamtime” was selected from five underwater images I submitted to this online gallery curated by the Marin Society of Artists for their “Celebration of Art 2020” show. I’ve included the link so you can see all the works as well as a screenshot of my piece below.
