I’ve enjoyed watching gymnasts every since the “Magnificent Seven” took gold for the Americans in 1996. I’ve never been that coordinated or that in shape and what those women and men can do with their bodies is amazing to me.

I know there’s a lot of controversy around the sport now as well as a reexamining of Kerri Strug’s final “heroic” dash that led to an ankle injury (from which she thankfully recovered), but I still love watching the athletes and, not often enough, being able to photograph them. This shoot was simply from my love of my limited understanding of the aesthetic as well as a desire to work with Cait and MUA Becky Jo. I now realize as I write this I could explore the theme further and perhaps I will at some point, but for now this was simply a chance for we three to have a fun Sunday afternoon, and really isn’t that enough?
